The really
cool thing about having the Ninja Pro is now I can take all those vegetables in
the Spring Mix (plus a few besides) and put them into a smoothie – instead of
eating a big bowl full. That works so much better for me. Last night I had a
chocolate greens drink – it was spectacular. I put in a dozen dark greens with
½ a banana and 2 scoops of a dark chocolate antioxidant powder (30 calories per
scoop). I added 10 ice cubes and it in one minute Ninja turned this into a
super-rich, thick, creamy, super delicious 20oz smoothie loaded with nutrition.
Better than any thick shake I’ve ever had! I’m in smoothie heaven!
For dinner
today I met some friends at a local diner. Monday is a good night to meet
because it’s quiet at the diner, we get our pick of tables and attention. And no
one wants to cook on a Monday so this just works. I really poured over the menu
deciding what I wanted to eat, what I was in the mood for. I didn’t want meat,
or fish, or anything too heavy. A bagel to me is not very heavy and one egg
scrambled with a slice of cheese seemed perfect. Of course a small salad on the
side – and then a smoothie as a snack. I’m good.
Meanwhile just 2 more days to weigh-in. This
month was sort of strange. I didn’t do nearly as much strength training as I
wanted to do. I hurt my ankle and hip and that lasted a week immediately
followed by a week-long congestion attack… Today was the first full day without
Sudafed so I’m comfortable planning on the gym tomorrow evening. But I’m
wondering of course about my weight loss because I increased the calories
without keeping up with the strength training. I’m curious to see the results.
I was talking today with a colleague who has been following my blog and she
commented that this has truly been an evolution. She likes that I’m not ‘set in
my ways’ as she calls it – that I try new things, I am always prepared to make
adjustments and that is so true. It really is a learning process and I’m so
thankful for friends that have continually been an encouragement to me (you all
know who you are).
