Here’s something that really ticks me off. Another new report just released suggesting American’s don’t need to take dietary supplements because they get sufficient nutrition from diet…
Here are some recent statistics from the National Institute of Health (NIH):
*More than 2/3 of American’s are overweight *More than 1/3 of American’s are obese
In other words, 2 out of every 3 American’s are overweight or obese. It should also be noted that obesity is not the result of excessive fruit and vegetable consumption....
According to Researchers at Harvard University, Americans do not consume enough fruits and vegetables. The average American gets a total of just three servings of fruits and vegetables a day. The latest dietary guidelines call for five to thirteen servings of fruits and vegetables a day (2½ to 6½ cups per day), depending on one’s caloric intake. For a person who needs 2,000 calories a day, this translates into nine servings, or 4½ cups per day (2 cups of fruit and 2½ cups of vegetables).†
The bare minimum.
Unless you’re one of the lucky few who consume 7-9 servings of vegetables and fruits every day, you should consider a multi-vitamin. NIH also recommends fish oil, which you can get from consuming 2-3 servings per week of cold water fish (sardines, mackerel, herring, anchovies, salmon, etc) which are rich in the essential fatty acids EPA and DHA or you can supplement.

Growing old is inevitable, but maintaining good health and quality of life as our bodies age isn’t.
Good nutrition is possible. But if you aren’t getting it from your diet or from supplementation, then you aren’t getting it. †
