The Best Part


There is another really cool thing that happened yesterday that I failed to mention (can’t believe I forgot!) I went under 300lbs! I’m at 295 – Yay!  I started this year at close to 360lbs and the year isn’t over – but I’m already at 295 – and entering Month #9! It’s really been a very exciting and interesting experience since the first day I started. And if I had to choose just one single thing that I love most about the entire experience it wouldn’t be the weight loss, or the new eating habits, or health benefits, or my physical fitness progress, or even that my joints are starting to feel much better, no, if I had to choose just one thing it would absolutely be gaining control and being disciplined. To be able to decide what to eat and what not to eat every day is such a joy.
But let me tell you - this did not happen overnight – not even close. It took a few months before I even realized that I could do that. The first 2 months (were actually December and January) and they were very difficult months. I knew I had to figure this out so I could do it ‘my way’ as the song says, but I wasn’t sure what that looked like exactly and so I started trying a bunch of different things until finally, around the 3rd week of January I landed on food journaling which quickly grew to include calorie counting and then of course the natural transition for me was to do a case study. I finally found something that worked well for me. From the first day I started recording calories I noticed a change. But it still wasn’t enough – something was missing. I needed accountability – and that’s where blogging came in. And then someone suggested I also create a community for additional support and well here we are starting month #9. I’m so excited looking forward to the months ahead because there’s still so much that hasn’t been done and so much on my mind that I want to accomplish, but it’s gonna take time. And, time I’ve got, because I know that the next 9 months will come and go whether I lose weight, get physically fit, and healthier or not. So for me, this is a no-brainer.
