As Usual...


Not sure 80% is accurate - but even 60% is Substantial

So another “Meatless Monday” on the books. As usual, my daily calorie count for the day is lower than normal – which is fine. Especially since I’m trying to get the daily average back down to 1700. I’m still seriously considering that one day on - one day off meat consumption that I mentioned. It is frequently said that ‘we are what we eat’… I believe that. And in the case of animal flesh – we eat whatever the animal eats, and for the most part animals that are bred for food are given horrible diets designed to fatten them up. They are given lots of other crazy things like steroids, antibiotics, wheat, corn and soy loaded with pesticides, herbicides, GMOs, heck some animals are fed animals, sometimes even the same species. Just crazy. But truth is, even organic meat is difficult to digest due to the complexity of the protein. So this is basically more a health conviction for me than a dietary goal. That’s why I’m not going to be adding this to my goal sheet. If the conviction is strong, then this will happen over time. If not, then no need to put forth a new goal that I may not want to maintain.

Interesting fact: our digestive tract houses 60-70%  (Health Harvard) of our immune system. Keeping it healthy and clean – free of excess waste and rotting meats will go a long way to overall good health. And since that’s what this entire journey is all about – it just makes sense. I simply do not like how long it takes to digest meat. And that concern may be enough to change how much of it I choose to eat going forward.  Meanwhile…
