3/9... Spring Forward. Total Daily Calories: 1994

Day 56






It was another really beautiful day on Long Island. Spring forward took place last night bringing us one step closer to actual spring – yay! I did some more walking – outside this time – thru the park, yay! I’m looking forward to “walking club” at work. Each year my company sponsors the annual walking contest. They break us up into teams and put each one on a tropical island. They track individual and team miles walked so they can post weekly results, award prizes and show us fun facts as each team treks across their island. It’s such a fun idea that has spurred over 75 people to join.


I’ve put a link below for a calorie burn calculator. Just type in your weight and the length of time you’re exercising and what you’re doing and calculate. It tells you how many calories you’ve burned. I had a conversation recently about exercise with someone from my weight loss community and she suggested that I wasn’t properly calculating burned calories for my weight, and exercise level (she felt it should be much higher). So I found the calorie calculator website which confirms that I am burning a lot more calories than I’m currently recording in the tracker so I’ve increased my personal calculation a little, from 20 to 30 calories per 5 minutes. It’s still a lot lower than the calculator suggests, but I’ll wait until April’s weigh-in and decide if I need to make another adjustment. It’s important to be accurate in both calories eaten and burned to insure food intake is sufficient. I also don’t want to undermine myself by deducting too many calories. When in doubt, I always round-up.
