"The Countdown Has Begun"









Just 2 more days until weigh-in #4! I’m looking forward to it. I’ve been evaluating some of the data from this last 4 weeks comparing it to the last 3 months, and I have ideas for some new goals, some permanent and some in the ‘test’ mode. But of course I must see results first. I’m fairly certain that I’m sticking with the daily 1700 calorie goal – the only way I would reduce that is if my weight loss for the month is below 4lbs – but that’s not likely. But let’s not speculate – Wednesday is just 2 days away!
I can tell you for a fact that calorie counting, exercise, menu planning, food prep & documentation, blogging, community mgmt., setting short-term goals, long terms goals, data analysis, and especially counting down daily to a monthly Weigh-In -- all contributes to a ‘slow-down’ of the clock! You wouldn’t believe how long 4 weeks is when you're doing all of these things and anticipating the weigh-in at the same time – it makes 4 weeks seems like an eternity! It’s a long, long, long time between weigh-ins. Just another fantastic benefit – who knew!
 
But there is also one other amazing benefit that I don't think or talk about enough. During this long, drawn out process of trial and error, of setting and tweaking goals, seeing what works and what doesn't, falling down and getting back up again and doing it better next time around, during all this time something amazing is happening... I'm learning a new way to live and as all of these wonderful changes take shape they become habits - deep seeded habits. That is truly an amazing benefit. And as I think about that, I'm positive this same principal would easily translate into any challenge that requires time and effort. Practice makes perfect. Yes, totally amazing indeed! So set your face like flint and get it done! If you do - the pounds will surely drop off, the muscles will surely build, the stamina will surely increase, etc.. Count on it.
