Go Fish

It’s Friday – and that means Seafood! Tuna for lunch and Tilapia for dinner. I’ll be honest with you – if I didn’t designate Friday as Seafood day, there would be weeks going by with no seafood on my tracker. I love shrimp but don’t eat it enough. I love whitefish salad but with prices at an all-time high local bagel stores are adding weird things to the salad such as large chucks of celery and eggs? Huh? I’ve got nothing against celery and eggs, but if I’m going to pay $16-lb for whitefish salad then it’s not gonna have any additives to bulk it up. So I haven’t had good whitefish salad for a while – and of course I avoid bagels so it’s just as well. I make Friday’s a ‘Seafood Event’ – dedicated a whole day to it and Viola'! Fish takes center stage and I’m sure to eat at least 2 servings of it every week. I also take Omega-3 fish oil every day because it’s great for cardiovascular health, brain, joints, skin and it has built-in anti-inflammatory properties which I need. So of course I love Fridays!
Trois Superior Cobalt Crystal AwardAnother benefit to Friday… the weekend starts! The weather is so beautiful it’s unbelievable. Everyone on Long Island will be out and about this weekend – no question, and I will be no exception. I’ll see the new Planet of the Apes movie. I’m going to the outlets and also a BBQ. For the record, I will not be one of those who eats 2 hot dogs/buns, a cheeseburger/bun, a piece of chicken and a rib or two, potato and mac salads, corn on the cob, some chips, cookies, fruit salad, cake or pie, sodas, beers, ice cream etc. No, for me it’s like any other meal – I’ll be sure to limit the food intake to one piece of meat/bread, some salad, maybe some fruit, and probably a drink or two. But I won’t have another 3000 calorie day – I can tell you that right now. No indeed.
I’ll also be doing a lot of walking this weekend. And I’ll even manage to do some strength training (probably tonight). So it will be a fun yet disciplined weekend. Meanwhile…
